Modern day spray waxes

Modern day Spray Waxes.

meguiars hybrid ceramic wax. On a scale of Shit to Awesome with, 'Med' being, 'Medium', I give it a, strong Med. Its blue liquid in a blue bottle and, like most everything meguiars makes car care wise it smells good.

The directions on the bottle say to do a spray on and wipe off liberally for the 'first application'. I don't agree spray that shit on and wipe it off for any/every coating. The bottle says to spray it on during the drying process of a car washing while the panels are wet. It doesn't magically spread itself outward using it as a drying aid like meguiars wants you to believe reading the directions on the bottle. It runs in the area of $12.99 and can be had at Wally's.
YouTube reviews tend to say it doesn't last long. I can't agree or disagree on that, it hasn't been on the market long enough to make that call for me. Rating=strong Med

turtle wax ice seal n shine. This is my preferred spray wax of the modern day stuff. I'm extremely picky to what goes on the paint of my cars. I have a few that do appraise for over a million dollars and a half dozen that get paid as much as actors on a television show, those cars I only see for 90days a year as they are out touring with car shows around the planet. Seal N' Shine wins in the apply and buff out department. No bullshit use as a drying aid with a long cure time here. Just, spray on and wipe off. TurtleWax and, meguiars both make the bold claim their spray waxes last, 'Months' (plural). I have no cars that have only one of these spray waxes applied to them so I'm no authority to those claims. For its price of $9.99 a bottle its priced extremely good for a hybrid wax. It goes on and comes off easy, leaves whatever it coats shiny. The Seal N' Shine is my favorite of the three mention in this entry. It doesn't stink but does smell like an old mans cologne. Rating=Awesome

mothers hybrid ceramic wax. This one is the pricier of the three and the one I like least. 24 hour cure time goes on sticky and doesn't wipe off as easily as the meguiars or turtle wax does.
Mother's claim to fame with this hybrid wax is it uses both SIO2 silicon dioxide(Silica) and, TIO2 (Titanium dioxide). SIO2 is proven in the car care industry to provide paint/panel protection. TIO2 isn't proven to do jack shit in the car care industry. I believe it to be a gimmick while/where Mothers rides the hybrid silicon train for the summer. For its price, $24.99 you'd honestly be better off with two bottles of the turtle wax or one of each meguiars and turtle wax. Rating=below med

These will be my personal thoughts. I don't advise anybody to use a spray wax of any sort as their, main or sole coating of wax on their vehicle please use it only as a 'topper', 'stacking' it on top of a hard or paste wax. I use them for wheels and lower panels that get dirty fast.

I could write more but, I'm lazy and aren't looking to bore you to death.

Con't.

Lets say you read this, saw a video or two and are thinking, 'Silicon coatings must be awesome'. Stop there.

Full On Silicon Coatings are awesome and great, in the right scenarios.

A scenario where its good is, you're accepting the delivery of a shiny new car or truck tomorrow on your lunch break. You've arranged to take the day off after lunch to bond with your new vehicle. You've planned it all out, drive it home, give it a good long washing after using clay over every square inch where you're gitty to lay on a ceramic coating locking in the glorious shine and perfect paint.

This is where it would be a bad idea.

Your car is older than 4years old, its not been regularly washed and waxed, You're certain its never been clayed once. I'll just wash and clay it tonight then put on a ceramic coating afterwards.

Unless you are a professional detailer with a blackbelt in the car care arts, DON'T. Full On ceramic coatings are very easy to fuckup and require 'clean room laboratory' conditions for the vehicle during the application and cure process. AND just ONE Ounce of a leading ceramic is $40.00usd with the better stuff going up to $500.00 an ounce.

Keep in mind a, 24 or 32 ounce bottle of hybrid spray wax has one to two drops of actual SIO2/Ceramic in it. A 'full on ceramic coating' is 100% SIO2 Silica.

If your vehicle isn't brand new the prep time involved in getting the paint/clear coat pristine enough for a, silicon application alone is 4-6hours in a, 'clean room laboratory' area. Wash/Clay/Correct
Thats just the time needed to get the paint in good enough condition before a coating is applied then, there is a 24+hour cure time ahead of you.

Wheels, yes do clean and spray them with a hybrid ceramic spray wax.
If your vehicle is FrontWheelDrive do two coats on the two front wheels and just one on the rears. For RearWheelDrive do two coats on the rear wheels and one for each front wheel. On AllWheeldrive vehicles do two coats on every wheel, front and rear.

after your wheels are coated in hybrid ceramic wax spray wax cleaning them afterwards is incredibly easy(unless you have a WRX). Just fill a spray bottle with regular water spraying water on to each quarter of the wheel wiping them clean with a shop towel folded in fours. Water and shop towels is all it'll take. This seriously does work I've been doing this method for years and the wheels on my most driven car are 22inches, not the bling bling chrome type but are painted and have a clear coat on them. They are the stock wheels the car came with. When I say, 'Shop Towels' I am referring to the blue paper towels and not a cotton shop towel. Fold the mofo in fours wiping each quarter of the wheel with a clean side of the shop towel and one shop towel will do a full wheel. Hope this info helps somebody. Theres two young ladies on tna that use this method on their cars and neither have anything negative to say about it and still continue using this method. Your vehicle either has two wheels or four that get dirty from brake dust or rain. FWD/RWD are the ones that two get dirty on, AWD will dirty up all four.
