Spark Plugs

I should have written this blog entry months ago. Oh well, here we go.

I'll start off with myth's surrounding the subject. At one point everyones heard, "Run a plug that a astep colder. The reality of that phrase is it is true. Its true if you have air induction be it, turbo/supercharger/procharger and are using Non-Resistor plugs. The majority of dumbfucks spreading that phrase deserve the mechanical failure they'll get. If your running boost and non-resistor plugs your dumb ass better get an ECU tune to support those parts or you'll fuckup timing belts and chains incredibly fast. The same Honda fanbois that say shit like, "Hella Flush" spread the colder plug shit too.

Tuners/Racers and, Drivers all agree 'Iridium Plugs' are what needs to be ran now. Iridium plugs come stock in 99% of today's cars/trucks with a warranty three years or higher. Honda fanbois downtalk Iridiums claiming they run too hot, its actually a good thing they run hot. Iridiums run hot enough to be self cleaning. Its not hot enough to cause mechanical harm.

In late 2019 a new player entered the market. Ruthenium spark plugs. The Ruthenium plugs have a very limited availability right now. They seem to be available for only 4 cylinder import engines.
I've not yet ran a set. I've heard nothing but good things about them. Me, I use Iridium plugs. NGK Laser Iridium plugs to be exact. I hear they run as well as Iridiums but will last longer. Iridiums last over 100,000miles and look new even when you take them out at 99,000 miles.
