"What Kind of Hobbyist Are You?"

Rate this Entry
:cool:Addendum: I decided to include this in a blog as I find it interesting. I most like the Slut**/Adventurist/Bucket-lister/Adrenaline Junky & Hybrid types of hobbyists, because with hobbies, as with the other themes in my personal life, I find variety to be most fulfilling.

I describe myself as a polyamorist because I do love more than one (or rather, am loyally able to), and feel that love should be shared, not owned, claimed, nor controlled, nor (enter "x", "y", or "z" here)... As do I also believe that it is unfair for one person to be expected to fulfill EVERY need single-handedly.

We are social, somewhat pack animals... Each of us has our place or places we help the overall greater-good and these roles can be ever-changing, dynamic...with possible periods of stagnation.

I adore each and every encounter I have with another human, not always at first, but always upon further reflection and contemplation. If you have experienced a very genuine connection with me, it is. Those I do not connect with will know this as well.

Every day there is something to learn, we never know who might be that next individual that can make a difference in your world. This is the exact reason that I do not believe in generalizations. Each individual I interact with has something to share, something to teach me, some new perspective on an old archaic belief. The below post was simply intended to spark a discussion, to encourage hobbyists to reflect, and in turn... teach me and hopefully each of you following this thread, making us all more self-actualized with the end point of self improvement, better non-threatened (or threatening) communication, and ultimately better suited for the tides of inevitable change.

The day I stop learning is the day I die.

Hobbyists and Providers alike: Please expand upon these types and offer any further insight please :) In the meantime, happy hunting!! xoxo

I discovered there are a multitude of hobby types. A few would be:

Shiny New Object. To some degree most people in life think "the grass is greener". It is the same reason people switch diets, self help authors, Multi Level Marketing (get rich quick) and honestly clothes.
The Right Girl. Looking for that right girl that meets a mental (or written) checklist of needs. Emotionally, Sexually, Physically, Socially, Etc. Does not mean they will find her or even when they do that they will continue to think they did.
Bedpost Notches. Heather, check. Katie, check. Megan, check. Bambie, check. You get the idea.
I love "you" and "strange". If the "you" is you then your the constant. The love of strange is just that. Something new and different.
Connoisseur. Food, fine wines and women. The review boards have given birth to the man who not only likes to taste fine things but share his knowledge and scope of sampling to the admiration of his peers.
Bargain Hunter. "On Sale" works in every other transaction as a strong motivator, why would you think the hobby is any different?
The regular. Has found something in you that meets his needs. Stability. Reliability. Consistency. A true gem.
Buffet Line. All you can eat until your wallet is empty. Can you say "mid life crisis"?
Comparative Analysis. What a better way to compare all the intricate wonders and variations of intimate encounters. This can be a superficial journey or a more deep minded journey into your own wants, desires and needs.
Addicted to Love.Well not love but certainly a form of addiction.
Slut**/Adventurist/Bucket-lister/Adrenaline Junky Well, this type of hobbyist is a hybrid of steroid-injected proportions. Try-anything-twice, bedpost notches & then some. A narrow lead for my personal favorites just barely surpassing the hybrid hobbyist because they are my male counterparts and often some of my best real-life friends!
HYBRID Hobby Hunter My (close second) favorite and likely the most common variety amongst hobbyists. A blend of any and all of the above, and hopefully none of those listed below.
Charlie Sheen Syndrome. If you don't know, look it up.
POSER* When you're dead, you don't know you're dead; it is only difficult for everyone else.It is the same if you are a poserOr stupid.
